What an amazing ten days I just had!!! Right after SXSW, our friend “Lil Jon” from Milwaukee stayed in town a few extra days so we hit up some hill country spots including Marble Falls and Cottonwood Shores.  Here’s a few photos from our session (thanks dudes for pointing the camera my way a few times hehe):

Was rad to get a nice session in..the bar I work at Shakespeare’s was about to close for a group vacation to Las Vegas and also during Texas Relays (a southern university track and field event, usually draws a lot more pimped out cars and bling to Austin for the weekend pretty rad to watch!). I had off for the weekend! So this worked out great because my uncle Gus, aunt Diane and Cousin Alex flew in from Long Island, NY to Austin on their spring break to visit me. It was there first time in Texas!!!!!!  We had a great time and even did a little roadtrip down to San Antonio for the day. We hung out on the Riverwalk, went to see the Alamo, and Uncle Gus hooked Alex and I up with tickets to see the San Antonio Spurs vs. the Denver Nuggets!!!

I had been to a few NBA games before with my dad, we went to see the NY Knicks back in the days of Patrick Ewing, John was awesome! But this was THE closest to the court I had ever sat!  We were right behind the Nuggets bench. Alex and I were freaking out we could practically smell the whiskey on George Karl’s breath (denver nuggets coach) haha!

We made it back to Austin, and did some more sight seeing, we even took one of those Austin Duck Boat Tours which was really informative and actually kind of fun haha! We learned a lot about Texas, got to drive into Ladybird Lake, and make some noise with our “duck whistles” around town.  It was pretty nice to get to bond with Alex, 17, loves sports, and lives in Franklin Square where unless you have a car, there’s not a whole lot of awesome things going on.  So Stoney and I took him on a bike ride around town, and landed at the infamous Chuy’s Mexican restaurant for some burritos the size of our heads!

We did a little day trip out to Lockhart, TX, the BBQ capital of Texas! “We are not in Austin anymore!” seemed to be the vibe once we got to our table at Black’s BBQ, oldest BBQ spot in TX and longest continually run by the same family since 1932! I have heard so much about this place and was super excited because it was also my first time making the trip too!!! There are so many BBQ places here in TX, it is a fun adventure to try them all haha

Not only did we stuff our faces, but I also got a message from some of my skateboard homies that they too would be in Lockhart, but shredding the skatepark, so I convinced the family to go exploring with me to find the park the dudes were going to be at.  Sure enough, we found it! And what a wild session, so many shredders!  Here’s a few flicks:

For their first time visiting Texas, I think they had an amazing time!  Got to “kick it” with Alex around town, take him to the trails, Housepark, and some of my other favorite ramps even T-1!  They finally got to see me ride, and Stoney skate, and some of my favorite riders of all time slay the new layout at t-1! AMAZING!!!!!! The next day was Easter Sunday, and Gus really wanted to go some place that had live music. Since everywhere was packed, I ended up over at the Yellow Jacket Social Club, where they had decorated the tables had a petting zoo, washer toss, and an easter bunny for the kids. We ended up dining with Hollywood and then borrowing a basketball from T-1 to shoot some hoops after down the street. I dropped my aunt off on South Congress to really get some shopping done while Gus and I whooped Alex and Hollywood in some 2 on 2. Ha!!!! So fun, I slept well that night haha!

EASTER fun! uncle GUS for 3! Happy Easter!

What an awesome trip, I had so much fun, I can’t wait until the next visit!!! So glad they got to see and know Texas, BBQ, learn some new lingo, how to relax, “kick it”, meet Stoney, and also get “stoked” on stretching and bicycles!  I am so so happy they made the trip, I really got to know them better and share some new memories. There’s something really great, or at least a good feeling when your family or close friends from across the miles get to come see how you live and can also have a fun time. It reconfirmed what a great city Austin really is.  Ha! Even better news for them, they just missed a whole bunch of much needed rain here in Austin, it hadn’t rained in weeks!!!!! Glad they missed the rain, but the trails needed some love, and so did our garden which is coming along great!!!

The sun is back out, and I am definitely out on my bicycle getting back to the daily grind! Excited for some projects I am working on, and trying to get some summer trips planned!!! Especially on this thing!!!!!!!! Just took this off of my buddy Logan’s hands, he moved to Chicago to start a bike shop, and didn’t have room for this bad boy..1975 Honda CB 360!!!!!!! So stoked! Don’t worry  mom, I will be taking the safety course and rockin a helmet and gloves at all times..chyeah!!!  It will be a few weeks until I can afford to get this thing on the road legally, kind of cleaned out all of my $ ha! Can’t wait for summer!!!!
